How a Rainy Day Inspired Our Waterproof Golf Competition Signs
Every great product starts with a simple idea. For Signs4Golf, that idea arrived during a rainy day on the golf course.
I had won the nearest the pin competition, but there was nowhere dry to write my name. The paper was exposed to the weather, the conditions were far from ideal and what should have been a straightforward part of the day became unnecessarily difficult.
That moment inspired me to create a completely waterproof golf competition sign that could be used confidently in all conditions.
Creating a Better Golf Competition Sign
Rather than simply adapting an existing product, I designed my own injection mould and developed a durable golf competition sign made from recycled plastic.
The objective was straightforward: to create a practical, professional-looking product that could withstand the British and Irish weather while remaining easy for golfers and organisers to use.
The result was a waterproof golf competition sign suitable for nearest the pin, longest drive and other on-course competitions.
Since then, our recycled-plastic signs have been used by hundreds of golf societies and purchased by many leading golf clubs. These include Royal St George’s, Royal Birkdale, West Lancashire, St Andrews and Slieve Russell in Ireland.
It is incredibly rewarding to see an idea inspired by one wet day on the course being used by golfers at such prestigious venues.
Supporting Golf Societies and Charity Golf Days
Golf competition signs are an important part of society days, corporate golf events and charity golf days. They may be a relatively small detail, but a well-presented and reliable sign can make a real difference to the organisation and appearance of an event.
Our signs have now supported hundreds of golf societies, helping organisers run their competitions without worrying about rain-damaged cards or makeshift signage.
We are also proud to donate signs to numerous charity golf days and organisations. These events raise valuable funds for many worthwhile causes, and we are always pleased when Signs4Golf can make a small contribution towards their success.
Expanding into Sustainable Wooden Golf Signs
Although durability and practicality remain essential, we understand that every golf club has its own character and presentation standards.
We therefore expanded our range to include premium wooden golf signs, providing clubs with a more traditional and natural-looking alternative.
Our sustainable wooden signs have proved particularly popular with private members’ clubs and venues looking for signage that complements the appearance of their course and clubhouse.
They are now used by five private members’ clubs in Surrey, as well as The Machrie, Schloss Roxburghe, La Grande Mare, London Golf Club, Tandridge, Coombe Hill and the Royal Automobile Club.

Celebrating a New Emerald-Green Milestone
To celebrate my 60th birthday and a special golf trip to Ireland, we have produced the first 100 emerald-green competition signs from our very own mould.
It is a colour closely associated with both Ireland and the golf course, making it a fitting choice for this milestone.
Seeing the first emerald-green signs produced was another proud moment in the Signs4Golf journey. What began as a simple solution to a problem on a rainy golf day has developed into a growing range of products used by golf clubs and societies throughout the UK and Ireland.
